Sand and black. Two tones that have been woven together in the Andean highlands for longer than anyone can trace. The Quebracho wool runner rug carries that tension — quiet and graphic at the same time.
The pattern is called peinecillo in the region where it’s made — a comb-like structure that repeats across the width of the rug. It is not decorative in the conventional sense. It is structural: the pattern and the weave are the same thing, built simultaneously, thread by thread.
The wool is hand-spun and dyed with natural pigments extracted from roots, minerals, and plants native to northern Argentina. The black is achieved through natural dyes only — no synthetic inputs at any stage of the process.
This wool runner rug is made entirely without electricity or industrial machinery. The loom is built from local wood. The hands are those of artisan cooperatives that have kept this tradition intact across generations.
