The Andean highlands produce llamas in a range of natural colors that most people never see in finished textiles — because most textiles are dyed. ANDINA works only with undyed fiber, which means that rarer natural coats, like deep black, become available exactly as the animal carries them: unprocessed, unaltered, honest.
Llama fiber does not need dye to achieve depth. The black coat of certain llamas produces a fiber that is rich and dark without the flatness that synthetic dye often creates. It has a natural sheen. It is soft and light, with the same thermal and moisture-resistant properties that make all llama fiber exceptional — properties that belong to the fiber, not to any treatment applied afterward.
Black is the rarest tone in the ANDINA llama throw range. It is not the flat, artificial black of a dyed textile — it is a deep, slightly varied dark that shifts between near-black and very dark brown depending on the light and the individual animal. In a room, it functions as a strong neutral: grounding, precise, and easy to place against pale walls, natural wood, or any warm tone in the rest of the space.
