Two tones, two different stories. The coffee is the wool in its natural state — undyed, unchanged from the animal. The sand is achieved with natural pigments extracted from plants and minerals native to northern Argentina. One color made by nature alone, the other made by hand.
The Tala natural wool flat weave rug holds both in a quiet, even pattern. No hierarchy between them. Just the rhythm of the loom, repeated row after row.
The flat weave construction is tight and precise, built without electricity on a wooden loom in a small community in the Argentine highlands. Its surface reads as simple, but the detail is in the texture — the slight variation of hand-spun yarn, the way light moves across this natural wool flat weave rug differently at different hours.
Made entirely by artisan cooperatives that have preserved this way of working across generations. No industrial inputs. No synthetic materials at any stage.
