Gray is the color that designers return to most often. Not because it is neutral in the passive sense, but because it holds — it holds other colors, other materials, other decisions made in a room, without competing with any of them.
The Solid Smokey Gray is a solid gray wool rug achieved with natural dyes derived from plants and minerals of northern Argentina. The result is a gray with warmth in it — not the cold gray of concrete or metal, but something closer to smoke, to morning light, to the color of stone after rain.
Flat weave, no pile. Built row by row on a wooden loom without electricity. The surface of this solid gray wool rug has the slight variation of hand-spun yarn — matte in some areas, catching a little light in others. It doesn’t read as uniform from across the room. It reads as quiet.
Made entirely by artisan cooperatives in northern Argentina using techniques unchanged across generations.
