From Highland to Loom

Blue Gray sits at the cooler, lighter end of the ANDINA palette — a gray that is almost white, with a blue undertone so subtle it is easier to feel than to name. It is the color of morning light on stone, of overcast sky just before the clouds break. Calm without being cold.

The Solid Blue Gray is a flat weave wool rug dyed with natural pigments from plants and minerals native to northern Argentina. Natural dyeing at this end of the spectrum — pale, cool, barely-there — is harder to achieve and harder to replicate than a saturated color. The slight variation across the surface, where the yarn absorbed the dye differently, is not inconsistency. It is the evidence of a process that was never entirely in control, and is better for it.

Flat weave, no pile. Dense and even, built without electricity on a wooden loom by artisan cooperatives in the remote highlands of northern Argentina. The surface has the quiet depth that comes from hand-spun yarn — a texture you notice more with touch than with sight.

This solid blue gray wool rug works in rooms that need a cool neutral — contemporary bedrooms with white bedding and pale timber, living rooms where warm tones already dominate and a cooler note is wanted, or any space where the floor should recede rather than claim attention.

Available from 3×5 ft to 9×12 ft. For custom dimensions or colorways, visit our Bespoke Rugs page. Interior designers can access trade pricing through our Trade Program.
