Each ANDINA piece is handwoven from natural fibers. Subtle variations in tone and texture are inherent to the handmade process and reflect the authenticity of its origin.
Llama fiber comes in a wider range of natural tones than almost any other animal fiber — from the brightest white to deep warm browns and near-blacks, without a single drop of dye. These are the tones ANDINA uses for its throws and bed quilts: eight colors that exist in the animal itself, sourced from herds in the highlands of northwest Argentina.
Each swatch in the Llama Sample Pack is 20×20 cm, woven in the same structure as the finished throws and bed quilts. What you feel in the swatch — the weight, the softness, the drape — is what the finished piece will feel like. Llama fiber is naturally softer than sheep wool, lighter in weight, and more effective at regulating temperature, which makes it particularly suited to bedroom and living applications.
For designers specifying throws or bed quilts, the swatches allow accurate color confirmation under the actual lighting of the project space. Natural undyed fiber reads differently than dyed material — its tone shifts more subtly with light — and a physical swatch is the only reliable reference.
